The Ngorongoro Crater is located in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area in Tanzania, East Africa. It’s part of the larger Serengeti ecosystem and is situated in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania.
Ngorongoro Crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is often referred to as the “Eighth Wonder of the World.” It’s a large volcanic caldera, formed by the collapse of a volcano millions of years ago. The crater floor is home to a vast array of wildlife and is one of the most densely populated wildlife areas in the world.
You can expect to see a wide variety of wildlife during your visit to Ngorongoro Crater. This includes the famous Big Five: lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, and rhinoceroses. Additionally, you’ll encounter zebras, wildebeests, hippos, hyenas, cheetahs, and an abundance of bird species.
The best time to visit Ngorongoro Crater is during the dry season, from June to September, and from January to February. During these months, the weather is dry, and wildlife congregates around water sources, making it easier to spot them.
